We can be found within the Civic Center located in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Berry Tender is licensed for 70 children a day through the Department of Human Services and currently has just under 100 children enrolled. We serve children of all ages year round. Our hours of operation are 5:30 am - 6:30 pm Monday through Friday. |
Who We Are |
Berry Tender Child Care in Strawberry Point, Iowa, provides a quality, developmentally appropriate educational opportunity for children. The school serves children from infant to school age that provides them with a balance of child-initiated and teacher-initiated activities. The school's program aims to develop the whole child and his/her physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth.
Berry Tender Child Care became incorporated on June 4, 1992, and opened on August 31, 1992. It was open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it was authorized to care for 30 children. The average attendance the first few months was 10 - 15 children per day. Many community members came together to form the Board of Directors to make this possible, knowing this was a needed service in the area. They applied for grants, held multiple fundraisers and solicited area businesses for donations. According to a founding board member, it was so rewarding to watch it grow and to know it was providing a very useful service to the community.
We partner with Keystone AEA and are recognized for our continued support and assistance in providing a work place for special education students. Berry Tender has a Level 4 in the Iowa Quality Rating System (QRS) through the Department of Human Services. |
